Canada financial calendar: key dates 2026–2027

Updated October 2026 · 4 min read

Short answerThe dates that matter most: Canada Child Benefit payments on Oct 20, Nov 20 and Dec 11, 2026; a tax instalment due Dec 15; the RRSP deadline for 2026 is expected on March 1, 2027; and the tax return is due April 30, 2027 (June 15 if you or your spouse are self-employed, though any tax owing is still due April 30).

This calendar gathers the dates that most affect a household's money. Dates marked confirmed come from CRA pages published for that period; dates marked expected follow the CRA's standing rule but the CRA has not yet published that year's page. Always confirm on canada.ca.

How to use this calendar

  • Put every date in your phone calendar with a reminder one week before.
  • If a date falls on a weekend, do not count on the extra day: pay or file before it.
  • Benefits: they arrive on fixed dates only if your return is filed and your information is up to date with the CRA.
  • Instalments apply only if the CRA told you that you must pay them; otherwise ignore those rows.

Frequently asked questions

When is the tax filing deadline in 2027?

For the 2026 tax year, the usual deadline is April 30, 2027, and June 15, 2027 if you or your spouse or common-law partner are self-employed. Any tax you owe is still due April 30. The CRA confirmed these dates for the 2025 tax year (April 30 and June 15, 2026); the 2027 dates follow the same rule, so check the CRA page when it updates.

What is the RRSP deadline for 2026?

The RRSP deadline is 60 days after the end of the year, so for 2026 contributions it is expected to be March 1, 2027. For the 2025 tax year the CRA lists March 2, 2026. Confirm the exact date with the CRA.

What if a due date falls on a weekend?

For tax instalments, the CRA treats a payment received on the next business day as on time when the due date falls on a weekend or a CRA-recognized public holiday.

Why are some benefit dates missing?

The CRA has published benefit payment dates only through December 2026 for the Canada Child Benefit, and only through October 2026 for the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit (formerly the GST/HST credit) and the advanced Canada workers benefit. We will add the 2027 dates once they are published.
